The Scottish Cellular Pathology Management Group (SCPMG)
The SCPMG was set up as a forum for the discussion and exchange of information across the senior biomedical scientist community in cellular pathology and has been in existence for some time. The group meets at 6 monthly intervals to discuss common items affecting the discipline and share information through email and other routes of contact. Representatives from each of the health board regions are invited and meet usually in Stirling. The group recently agreed to work under the auspices of the Scottish Pathology Network (SPAN). The meetings are well attended and provide an excellent forum for networking. The Chair of the group is Mr Tom Downie, Head Biomedical Scientist in Glasgow and the Secretary is Mr Allan Wilson, Head Biomedical Scientist in Lanarkshire. Either can be contacted through the SPAN office - see how to contact us.
The proposed purpose of the group is:
- To provide a forum for the discussion of matters of common interest.
- The exchange of best practice.
- To carry out research/information gathering and other projects of interest under the auspices of SPAN.
