Cervical Cytology Laboratory Review
February 2007 Update
In February 2007 the Scottish Executive Health Department wrote to Chief Executives outlining the remit and timescale of a review of cervical cytology laboratory provision.
The letter of invitation to potential steering group members and an outline of areas the review group may want to consider are attached: Letter to Steering Group Members (February) (Word Doc). This outline was produced through SPAN and was discussed by the National Advisory Group and aired at the SPAN launch meeting. It is recognised that this document requires updating but will be used as a starting point for discussions at the joint SPAN/SACC meeting in May.
The 1st meeting of the review steering group will be 21 May 2007 with further meetings scheduled over the next year.
To ensure an inclusive input to the process SPAN in conjunction with the SACC (Scottish Association for Cervical Cytology) have organised a meeting in Stirling on the 3rd May 2007 and clinical leads for service have received invitations for up to 3 individuals from each region to attend.
